What TECHLAWG is
TECHLAWG is a legal technology company. It provides legal technology, documentation, drafting and information services to technology businesses. It is not a US law firm, it does not hold itself out as licensed to practise US law, and nothing on this website should be read as a claim to be admitted in any jurisdiction other than those actually stated.
Where a matter requires jurisdiction-specific legal advice, TECHLAWG works with appropriately admitted external or partner counsel, and will say so before that work begins.
This website is information, not advice
Everything published here — including Founder Desk answers, Contract of the Week breakdowns, checklists, glossary entries and the Founder Legal Brief — is general information about how these documents and obligations usually work. It is not advice on your specific situation, it does not take account of your facts, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
The free tools
The Policy Checker and the Launch Checklist Generator are automated. The checker reads wording and reports what is absent; it cannot tell whether what is present is accurate about your product, which is where most real problems live. The generator applies general rules about how products like yours are usually regulated. Neither is a review of your documents or advice on your situation, and a good score is not a compliance certificate.
No lawyer-client relationship
Reading this website, subscribing to the Brief, submitting a question through Founder Desk or sending an enquiry does not create a lawyer-client relationship. A relationship arises only where scope, fees and terms have been agreed in writing.
Don't send confidential material
Please don't send confidential or privileged documents through the forms on this site or in a first message. Until an engagement is agreed, information you send is not treated as confidential in the way it would be within a professional relationship.
Questions may be published
Questions submitted to Founder Desk may be published in edited and anonymised form so other founders can benefit from the answer. Identifying details are removed. If you do not want your question published, say so when you send it.
Accuracy and changes in the law
The law changes, and content here reflects the position understood at the time of writing. No warranty is given that anything published remains current, complete or applicable to your circumstances.
